The ESCo Model
There are two main requirements for an ESCo (Energy Supply Contract) to work:
- Two parties involved – An investor (i.e. J L Phillips Renewable Energy Ltd) and an end user (the new customer)
- The customer will have a business, property or properties that have a large heat demand and would benefit from lower heating costs with no capital outlay
ESCo Owner (Investor)
- The investor (J L Phillips Renewable Energy Ltd) will be responsible for the capital expenditure of the biomass plant
They will also be responsible for the running and maintaining of the system
- They will sell heat to the customer (if the fuel is not sourced internally)
- They will retain the RHI income generated
The End User (Customer)
- Will buy heat from the ESCo owner (if the fuel is not sourced internally)
- They will supply the heat demand
